Overview
Make the most of an extended layover in Nepal with this tour covering authentic cultural experiences, a Himalayan hiking highlight, and a spiritually significant stop.
This immersive 3-night, 4-day journey through Nepal takes you deep into the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Kathmandu Valley, visiting iconic sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and the medieval city of Bhaktapur with its famous Pottery Square.
Experience a scenic day hike from the ancient Changu Narayan Temple through traditional villages to Nagarkot, where you’ll be immersed in peaceful natural surroundings and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas. At Nagarkot, relax and take in a breathtaking sunset and sunrise over the mountain peaks.
The adventure continues with a peaceful mountain sunrise and a cultural tour of Patan Durbar Square, known for its exquisite Newari architecture and artisan workshops. You'll then journey to Pharping, a spiritually significant village known for its serene monasteries and the sacred Asura Cave, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated and attained enlightenment.
The final day offers leisure time to relax or further explore Kathmandu Valley before your transfer to the airport for departure.
Please note: This trip is shorter than our recommended duration of stay in Nepal (8+ days). We primarily advise this itinerary for those building in an extended layover in Nepal en route to another destination.

Sustainability
We are a Travelife-certified company, and we work to reduce all negative impacts on the natural and social environments. One of our approaches is to support our business partners, such as accommodation providers and excursion providers, in adopting sustainable best practices. By doing so, we promote greater tourism dispersal and help boost the local economy. Our focus on sustainability also includes creating awareness among our guests, office, and trekking staff.
- Environmental Initiatives
We prioritize environmental practices that minimize negative impacts on the natural environment. For example, we use biodegradable hand soap and cleaning powder for our office, and we source these products from women who are mostly from poor, remote communities. We also encourage travelers to bring reusable water bottles and water filter tablets to reduce plastic waste. Our guides collect trash along the trail and dispose of it in designated areas, and we use cloth bags as much as possible. In addition, our trip includes low-carbon impact activities such as village walks, hiking, visiting local artisan workshops, and interacting with locals. Our office is solar-powered, and we prioritize energy-efficient lights and water-efficient toilets.
- Sociocultural Initiatives
Our sociocultural practices focus on supporting the local communities we visit. Our trip takes guests to medieval towns that have remained largely untouched by modern life, promoting greater tourism dispersal and boosting the local economy. Meals are cooked using local produce, and we cater to guests' dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and vegan options. Our focus on sustainability also includes providing poverty-stricken children with shelter and education and engaging in various volunteering and charitable organizations. Additionally, our trip focuses on gaining a deep understanding of the everyday lifestyles of locals, strolling around old alleys and traditional houses, and hiking through ethnic villages.

Everything was great and we had a wonderful time!
We had such a wonderful time in Nepal! Yugen Earthside truly understands the ethical aspect of traveling, recognizing the importance of the protection of animals and cultures. We recommend them to everyone who wants to experience something authentic and unique. I absolutely loved the organisation, response time, and everything else about the company! I believe they reflect my ideals and my care for the planet and conscious traveling.
Our favorite parts about the trip were the hike to Nagarkot and the Patan visit. The local Nepali partner was perfect; we were so taken care of, it made us feel so happy!
